2012 Year in Review: Top Forks/Palmer Crime Stories
Forks and Palmer Townships had plenty of crime news throughout 2012.
It was a year of armed robberies, crashes, sex, shootings, fatals and a bomb for Forks and Palmer Townships in 2012.
In mid-May, a car crashed through the garage of a Bushkill Drive home in Forks Township, ripping through the structure and crushing two cars, but luckily no injuries were reported.
Unfortunately, two Forks residents lost their lives in a one-vehicle crash in late November: a father and a daughter. Meanwhile, around the same time, a Forks resident took his own life in a suicide shooting.
Last year began with news in late Jaunary that a Bangor Area High School teacher who lived in Palmer Township was charged with having sex with her students.
In mid-December, Alan V. Dilsaver, 56, a Palmer Township dentist and former Lower Nazareth Township supervisor, was among the five men and one woman charged in a prostitution sting, according to Colonial Regional Police.
Forks Township experienced a rash of armed robberies during the year, including a string along Sullivan Trail that ended with a suspect being nabbed after hitting the Chubby's convenience store.
What possibly took the cake for the most unsual crime for the year was a bomb that was found in a residential neighborhood in Forks Township in March. Who left the bomb, which had to be detonated, was never determined.
