Antonella’s Bakery Gets a Warm, Sweet Reception
Antonella’s Bakery, formerly known as Antonella’s Amazing Cakes, opens in the Sullivan Trail Shopping Center in Forks.
People stood in the open doorway of Antonella’s Bakery Monday night waiting for a chance to sample the sweets and celebrate the grand opening ... the grand re-opening, really.
Antonella Gaglione, owner of Antonella’s Bakery, opened her shop 10 months ago as Antonella’s Amazing Cakes next door to her parents' place, Giuseppe’s Italian Restaurant at the Greenway Street Mall in Palmer Township.
Now, Antonella’s Bakery is next door to Nicolosi’s Pizza in the Sullivan Trail Shopping Center in Forks Township.
“We were outgrowing our other shop,” Gaglione said.
Gaglione hugged and welcomed friends, family and customers to her new location.
“I love it here,” Gaglione said. “There’s so much action and friendly faces.”
Gaglione also likes it because it’s close to home and her children’s school.
“As a mom, it’s always a great feeling to be closer to home,” she said.
Her husband, John Gaglione, said he’s not surprised with his wife’s quick success. Her parents also owned a bakery.
“This all she knew as she grew up,” he said. “She’s been decorating cakes since she was seven-years-old.”
Gaglione said her top seller is the mini-honeybuns. They are bite-sized and easy to pop in the mouth, plus they’re not too sweet, she said.
“It seems to be one of the things we can’t keep on the shelf,” she said.
Mini-honeybuns ranked up there with State Representative Joe Emrick, too.
“Oh my goodness, they’re tremendous,” Emrick said at the opening. “I’ll be stopping here for coffee and cupcakes.”
