Easton Police: Man Was 78 When He Molested Boy

Philip Tone of Forks Township charged with sex crimes from College Hill incident.

A Forks Township man was 78 when he molested an 8-year-old boy at a home in Easton in 2007, according to court records.

Philip Tone, now 83, of 1006 Sullivan Trail, was charged Wednesday with two counts each of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and statuatory rape, four counts of indecent assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

According to court records, the investigation began last year when Northampton County's Children and Youth office heard a report of a boy being molested. He told a caseworker Tone had forced him to perform sex acts in January 2007 at a home on Cattell Street.

Tone was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Gay Elwell after turning himself in, and was free after posting bond on $100,000 bail.
