Fiery Double Fatal Crash Victim ID'd [Video]

A horrific crash on MacArthur Road just north of the Lehigh Valley's major shopping strip Saturday left two people dead; one has been identified by authorities.

Sharon Gonzalez-Medina, 41, of Whitehall Township, has been identified as one of two people killed Saturday when a pickup truck hit her car, which burst into flames on MacArthur Road near St. John's United Church of Christ-Mickleys.

Newsworking.net has posted graphic video of the car in flames.

Gonzalez-Medina's car was turning right onto MacArthur Road from Eberhart Road when she was hit by a pickup truck traveling north at a high rate of speed about 6 p.m., according to the reports. Gonzalez-Medina and her passenger were killed.

MacArthur Road (Route 145) will be closed from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday so state police can reconstruct the accident.

  • Southbound traffic will be detoured on Mechanicsville Road, Rural Road, Mauch Chunk Road and Schadt Avenue.
  • Northbound traffic will be detoured on Eberhart Road, Seventh Street and either Glenside Drive or Lehigh Street.

Motorists should expect significant delays and use caution driving through the area.

Why on earth would his names matter? People remarry. Talk about missing the point. This was a horrible tragedy for a family. I can only pray their loved ones can find peace.

These people are my daughter Toni's neighbors, that's how I met them, they were really nice people, this makes me very sad.

Taint different cultures don't follow the same rules as American's with the last names. Also, sometimes people get divorced and the name may be different if the mother remarries. There are a lot of reasons a child's last name may be different. It's very sad that this happened. That's a pretty open intersection so however this happened it's such a shame. They were both too young and left too soon. Condolences to their families and friends.

No people driving like aholes equals death. Kind of like the pick up truck was. And the wrong people witnessing it that instead of attempting to get them out of the vehicle they would much rather videotape the car burning instead.

Please mind your own business. Seatbelt did not cause this accident. The truck did. You are a moron!

She was my best friend, she was a wonderful mother, wife, friend, daughter, and sister. I pray that her daughter can find peace and understanding to this tragedy that I cannot understand. Sharon had a big kind heart and I will miss her very much. This message is to those who didn't know her. She was very dedicated to her family and to God. May she RIP.

I'm sorry for your loss. The daughter lost a mother and a brother. She will need a lot of help from family and friends during this tragic time. I believe I read the mom was also married - if so this will be a trying time for her husband and let's not forget the father of the boy. He also had a tragic loss. Very sad for all of them.

The drivers of the speeding pick up truck were from Schnecksville, a husband and wife. They ran the red light and slammed into the car. The 16 yr old just got his permit and was driving. The 16 yr old saw the light for him turned green, he attempted to turn left and the truck blew the light. I say release the names of the other drivers

It's interesting why they are not releasing the names of the pickup driver and passenger. Normally names of all parties are released. I also wonder what the current medical condition of them is. I believe they were hurt in the accident. Could that be the reason the names are still being protected?

For the record, Sharon was not driving, George was making a left turn at the green light and they were both wearing seatbelts. Great reporting salisbury.patch.com

Sad, what kind of car were they driving, do you know? So many cars are going up in flames lately in crashes. I would like to know if there is a common factor in the cars that are busting in flames when wrecked.

yeah my 2 cents, think it has something to do with our ethanol gas. The way my car has been having problems with the egr and catalytic and exhaust and as hot as it gets when idling underneath to the point you cannot stand near the car it makes me wonder that it won't burn even without an accident, so I could see it going up in flames in the event of an accident and my car is an older car.
