Five Things to Know for Aug. 27-Sept. 2

School starts in the Easton Area School District while preseason football for the Philadelphia Eagles ends this week.

It's the last "unofficial" week of summer.

This week, school begins, preseason football comes to a close and Labor Day is right around the corner.

So here is the latest addition of Five Things to Know, showcasing what's to come during the first full week of August.

Our weekly feature every Monday takes a look at what's ahead of us for the week. Now that the weekend is in our rear-view mirror, we can get ready for news and information that might make your week a little lighter and brighter.

1. The Easton Area School District opens its doors for the new school year Monday. Be on the lookout for buses and children.

2. The Palmer Township Board of Supervisors meets Tuesday. The meeting is 7 p.m. in the conference room of the Palmer library. To see the agenda, visit the township's website.

3. The Philadelphia Eagles will play their final exhibition game of the season against the New York Jets Thursday night. The game will help the team decide who makes the cut for the 53-player roster.

4. The Palmer Township Community Pool will be open for its last week of the summer before closing after Labor Day Monday.

5. Kudos to Forks Township Receation Director Rachel Sulzbach, who wrapped up her first year last week of hosting movies and concerts throughout the summer. Both were a success.
