Layout Changes for Forks Community Days

Organizers moved vendors near the amphitheater this year for Forks Community Days.

Brian Lokitis looked like he was in a circus Saturday.

"Because of the changes, I'm doing a lot of last-minute juggling," he said.

The organizer of Forks Township Community Days had his hands full Saturday morning as he tried to get vendors set up in a new layout on the field around the new amphitheater.

Most of the vendors had moved to the field from last year's location around the tennis and basketball courts, although a handful still remained.

Several township officials said they were very pleased with the new look.

"It's really good," Supervisors Chairman Erik Chuss said. "I'm very excited about it."

Alison Miers, vice president of the Business and Commerce Association of Forks Township, said the new amphitheater has made all the difference in giving Community Days a boost.

"It's good to try new things," she said. "It helps keep things exciting and fresh. It gets people to keep coming back every year."

Lokitis said that while he thinks the layout worked out well, he also believes it presents some problems.

He said that generators had to be rented because was the field was limited regarding electricity.

"Next year, we'll try to put electricity in the field," he said.
