Missing Palmer Girl Ventured to Lancaster County

Palmer Township police say Haley Krauss is fine and that no charges are forthcoming in the case.

A Palmer Township family is feeling a great deal of relief now that their daughter, missing since last Thursday, has returned home safely.

The Palmer Police Department said that Haley Krauss, 15, had run away from home and was located in Leola, Lancaster County.

Krauss was found Wednesday afternoon, Det. Sgt. Timothy Ruoff said.

Ruoff said police heard from Krauss' mother, who had received a Facebook message from a friend who recognized Krauss.

According to police, Krauss was picked up and stayed in Leola with a friend. Police spoke with her about coming home and she was reunited with her mother. Police said Krauss was fine and that no charges will be filed. The investigation has been closed.

She got off the school bus Jan. 24, stopped in at her Stephanie Drive home and hadn’t been seen until Wednesday.

"The officers and detectives worked tirelessly on this case and did a great job!" Police Chief Larry Palmer said Thursday.

The family had offered a $2,500 reward for her safe return, according to the Easton Express-Times.

Palmer Township police issued a Missing Juvenile Report on the whereabouts of Krauss over the weekend and had entered her into the Missing Persons database.

Its great that there is a safe outcome to this story --that part is good news .

But I'm sure Chief Palmer and Sgt Ruoff and many many others put a lot of time and effort into this matter and that's no laughing matter! It may not be illegal for a minor to runaway in Pennsylvania but its a felony matter for somebody to interfere with a parent's custodial rights in Pa. In a sense this story reads worse than somebody who maliciously turned in a false fire alarm and the fire department turned out . I sure hope that offered reward goes to the Palmer Police Department to help offset costs!

I was just going to say that maybe the reward should be given to the Palmer Police Dept but I see someone else has already suggested it.
