Palmer Dentist Charged in Prostitution Sting to Face County Judge

Alan V. Dilsaver, 56, a Palmer Township dentist and former Lower Nazareth Township supervisor, was among the five men and one woman charged in a prostitution sting.

A Palmer Township dentist charged in a police-orchestrated prostitution sting has waived his right to a preliminary hearing, according to court records.

Alan V. Dilsaver, 56, of the 300 block of Hillview Drive, Lower Nazareth, was among the five men and one woman charged in a sting at a cooperating Hanover Township, Northampton County, hotel.

Police say Dilsaver, a former Lower Nazareth supervisor, answered an Internet advertisement on Dec. 14 and offered an undercover Northampton County sheriff’s deputy money for sexual acts.

By waiving his preliminary hearing Monday in front of District Judge Robert Hawke, Dilsaver's misdemeanor charge of patronizing prostitutes will now be handled in Northampton County Court. A preliminary hearing determines whether there is enough evidence to require a trial.

According to court records, Dilsaver is being represented by Gary Asteak, who is the longtime solicitor for Lower Nazareth Township. Dilsaver is free on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Dilsaver, the dentist at Lehigh Valley Smiles in Palmer Township, has been practicing dentistry since 1983.

According to www.lehighvalleysmiles.com, Dilsaver was elected to the Lower Nazareth Board of Supervisors in 1998 and appointed chairman in 2000. He is no longer on the board.

During his tenure, his website continues, he was a representative for the Hecktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the Park and Recreation Commission.

Allentown police on Jan. 14 charged Dilsaver with driving under the influence and careless driving, court records say.

With all the murder and gang violence, this is what the police are focused on? This guy's career is ruined and his family shamed. I'm pissed that tax dollars are being wasted on nonsense like this.

Re Armed Citizen's comment. Dr Dilsaver brought it on himself...communities need real leaders...not ones busy painting a picture that will eventually be seen in true light. His children shouldn't have to suffer...however, this should be a lesson to all those who protray one image but live and entirely different life....that it isn't okay and there are consequences. And, make room for those who truly have the courage to care for their communities and their family.
