Park Plaza at Sullivan Trail Takes Shape

New Forks Township center starting to transform into what will become a shopping mecca.

It's a blustery late Wednesday morning. But that doesn't stop workers from their construction activity.

In a handful of storefronts, work is steadily progressing as cables are installed, walls are stabilized, paint is splattered, saws buzz and nails are pounded.

At the Park Plaza at Sullivan Trail, this work is now constant.

The former Laneco department store is being transformed into Forks Township's shopping mecca and new businesses continue to sign on.

Forks Zoning Officer Tim Weis has been busy of late, stamping permit approvals as businesses set up shop while others already are starting to expand.

In one spot, workers are busy developing a storefront that will house an old-fashioned pharmacy.

The business seems like a perfect complement to a branch of Easton Hospital, which opened several months ago next door.

A few storefronts away, a woman is getting her hair and nails done at Trail Trimmers Salon, which is also a new arrival.

Nearby, across the way, BounceU is empty, but that operation's flurry of activity usually takes place on weekends.

Next door to that, though, GymTime is holding morning classes and children balance on beams and play with boucing balls.

The business, which opened in late September, is already expanding. Workers are preparing yet another room in the adjacent storefront that will clear the way for more classes.

Around the corner, scaffolding and a work bench fill the storefront for what will become the Combative Arts Institute. A sign showcasing the business has already been posted.

And a little further, the owners of the new Juicy Subs check out the inside of the plaza's first eatery. It's slated to open March 1.

"We feel very honored to be here in that this is going to be a reincarnation of this plaza," said Vlad Tayman, one of the owners.

Township officials hint at more businesses to come. Rumors are even swirling of a big restaurant.

For now, the work continues.

Great update, Dino. As the shopping center fills up, BounceU Easton will be adding more weekday open bounce and preschool playtime events. So far, though, Thursday-Sunday business has been great at this beautiful new location for BounceU Lehigh Valley. Thanks for spreading the word!

It would be great to have a Trader Joe's, Aldi's ,Panera Bread or a Chick fil-a move into Park Plaza.

No more crappy food like subs, pizza, etc. There is a Panera Bread iand Chick Fil A in Palmer and P'burg. We need a better eatery I.e., Macaroni Grill, Red Lobster, Cheesecake Factory, etc. It seems we are always driving to Allentown or Bridgewater to find these type of restaurants. Forks is a upscale neighborhood and deserves upscale restaurants.
