PennDOT Issues Saturday Storm Update
Major roads will be cleared first; secondary roads may be dangerous
PennDOT advises motorists that it will focus on clearing major roads and that travel conditions on secondary roads will likely deteroriate as snow begins to accumulate Saturday.
PennDOT will strategically clear and treat state roads, focusing on major
routes and possibly redirecting equipment from lower-traffic volume roads
to major routes if weather conditions worsen, according to a press release issued midday Saturday.
Drivers can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone before heading out to check traffic conditions.
Use extra caution on bridges and ramps where ice can often form without warning. Beware of roads that may look wet but are actually frozen, often referred to as “black ice.”
Do not pass or get between trucks plowing in a “plow line,” (several
trucks plowing side-by-side).
