Philadelphia Eagles Losing Streak Hits Eight Games
Bryce Brown fumble late in game sinks Philadelphia Eagles against Dallas Cowboys.
A win looked possible.
And then, late in the fourth quarter Sunday night, the wings fell off the Philadelphia Eagles once again.
Rookies Nick Foles and Bryce Brown put up impressive numbers, but Brown coughed up another fumble that sealed victory for the Dallas Cowboys as the Birds fell 38-33.
The Birds made it close at the end with a nifty punt return TD by another rookie, Demaris Johnson.
The Birds secondary once again looked like swiss cheese as Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo was able to thread through it, slipping passes easily through to Dez Bryant and tight end Jason Witten several times in the middle of the field for big plays.
While the pass rush was much better and there was some pressure, there were more missed tackles and easy completions. The defense once again gave up a ton of points. It's now six straight games of giving up 20 or more points.
The entire secondary needs to be replaced next year.
And then a turnover clipped the Birds again.
Brown, who had another impressive rushing game filing in for the injured LeSean McCoy, lost a ball that Dallas returned for a touchdown.
Led by the two rookies, the Eagles scored their most points in one game this season. The offense looked sound behind Brown and Foles and the offensive line held together, opening holes for Brown and keeping Foles from taking the pounding that Michael Vick received every game.
Foles played his best game of the season.
Foles' passes were sharp and crisp, there were no late throws -- and no mistakes.
Foles was impressive and poised. In his third start, maybe the game was slowing down enough and he was getting comfortable enough to take his time.
Of course, it doesnt hurt having Brown in the backfield.
Brown sparkled once again, hitting holes for 169 yards and two touchdowns.
The Birds came to play Sunday, and for the most part, the effort was there. Unfortunately, the results weren't.
Eight straight losses. Luckily, this season ends soon.
