The Forks Township Recreation Department kicks off its inaugural summer concert series with its first show Wednesday night at the township's new amphitheater.
Dubbed the "Sounds of Summer," the concert series will feature She Said Sunday, a rock 'n' roll covers band.
Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Forks Township Community Park Amphitheater. The show is expected to last until 9 p.m.
Rain dates will be on Thursdays.
Forks Township officials have expressed excitement about offering such a program. The township's Board of Supervisors just approved a five-year plan for its parks and recreation.
The amphitheater is considered one of the jewels of the township's plans, offering concerts and other events, such as a Movies in the Park program that starts July 6.
The amphitheater was just finished on Friday following delays in construction and repairs.
Other concerts planned for the "Sounds of Summer" series include:
- July 11 -- Desire -- an oldies Doo Wop group.
- July 25 -- Jordan White -- alternative music
- Aug. 15 -- James Supra Band -- Blues
- Aug. 22 -- Alias -- Classic Rock
The concerts are sponsored by Merchants Bank. Admission is free.
