Sullivan Trail Businesses Okayed to Open

Big Woody's remains closed but Ivy Cleaners, CC Wireless, Jasmine Restaurant and Supercuts get OK.

It has been nearly three weeks since a water main break and sinkholes shut a group of businesses at 1855 Sullivan Trail, but now Forks Township has given permission for all but one to reopen.

Ivy Cleaners is open once again after the municipality gave the okay for it and the other businesses to reopen. The building, which also houses Big Woody's Sports Bar and Restaurant, was closed on Aug. 28 following a water main break and subsequent sinkholes at the rear portion of the restaurant.

According to township zoning officer Tim Weis, the businesses were deemed safe to reopen as of Tuesday. But Big Woody's, which sustained the majority of the structrual damage, remains closed as repairs continue.

"We gave the okay to turn on the gas and permission was given to open," Weis said.

The location is also home to Jasmine Thai Restaurant, CC Wireless and Supercuts.

The initial hope was to have the businesses reopen within two days of the sinkholes appearing. But structural issues caused by the sinkholes prevented them from reopening for nearly three weeks.
