Children and teens with an autism diagnosis can get therapy outside of the school day through KidsPeace’s autism after-school program at our Family Center on Broadway in Salisbury Township.
Transportation is provided from the child’s school to the facility. The after-school program includes social skills groups for children 6 through 16 who have an autism, Asperger’s or PODNOS (pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified) diagnosis.
Individualized treatment plans are created and worked on in a group setting. The innovative curriculum is designed to help children learn to improve communication, social, coping, impulse control, attention to task, frustration tolerance, interaction, play, sensory and safety skills. Children will have the chance to make new friends and learn and grow in socially appropriate ways while earning praise, prizes and positive reinforcement daily.
