The national average this for a gallon is $3.588, up 4.9 cents from last week, but still about 14 cents lower than a year ago. But according to the report, the year over year difference will likely continue to fade due to higher crude oil prices and refinery maintenance that decreases supply. In the Lehigh Valley, the average price of self-serve gasoline is $3.439 per gallon, 2.2 cents higher than a week ago, 8.7 cents lower than a month ago and 26.6 cents lower than a year ago. Construction of a Sheetz gas station/convenience store is under way in Palmer Township.
The construction has begun. The new Sheetz gas station/convenience store—the second phase in the Northwood Center development—is starting to take shape. Crews have cleared and leveled land around the parcel by Route 248 and Kingston Road as Palmer Township officials have signed off on an agreement for a new traffic signal there. "They've put a fence up and you now see the equipment," Supervisors Chairman Dave Colver said. At its meeting last week, the Board of Supervisors authorized entering into a professional services agreement with traffic, planning and design. After months of a steady decline, gas prices saw it’s first uptick last week, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. The national average this for a gallon of gas rose 1.7 cents from last week. In the Lehigh Valley, the average price of self-serve gasoline is $3.412 per gallon, 1.3 cents lower than a week ago, 17.5 cents lower than a month ago and 36.9 cents lower than a year ago. Since national gas prices peaked at the end of February, motorists nationwide have felt welcome relief at the pump in the form of falling prices, the report states; however, the recent broader increase in retail gas prices has been supported by higher global crude oil prices. Moyer Aviation's departure Wednesday leaves a void at Braden Airpark in Forks Township.
The planes will fly no more over Forks Township. Moyer Aviation pulled out of Braden Airpark Wednesday, leaving a void on Sullivan Trail where small planes would take off and fly around the area. "Yesterday [Wednesday] was Moyer Aviation's last day at Braden Airpark," Supervisors Chairman Erik Chuss said. "Personally, having had a relationship with Moyer Aviation as a township representative and as a customer, I am very sad to see them leaving." Beyond Cakes has reason to celebrate. Forks Township's newest bakery, located on Sullivan Trail, got a sweet reception during its recent ribbon-cutting ceremony. The ceremony included state Rep.
