Former Palmer Woman, 27, Killed in Plane Crash

Local funeral services will be held for Gena Rych

A young woman originally from Palmer Township was killed in a plane crash while on her way to a Christmas party in Colorado on Saturday.

Gena Rych, also known as Jenna Rich, was 27 and moved to Durango three years ago, according to the Easton Express-Times.

The Associated Press reports that investigators are asking hikers and skiers to turn in any possible evidence from the crash, which happened in a remote mountain area. The National Transportation Safety Board might not be able to complete an investigation until summer because of heavy snow on steep, rugged terrain north of Silverton.

Rych and two co-workers from Alpine Bank were on their way to Snowmass Village by way of Aspen. A regional president for the bank told the Durango Herald that Rych was "the kindest, sweetest person" he ever knew.

Rych was a graduate of . Her sister told the Express-Times that a funeral mass will be held at in Palmer Township, but arrangements have not been finalized. Calling hours will be at the Morello Funeral Home next week.
