The following was provided to Patch:

Sarah-Marie Holena, daughter of Daniel and Melody Holena of Palmer Township, has earned her Girl Scout Gold Award.

It is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn.

Sarah-Marie has been a Girl Scout since Daisy and is a member of Troop #8957 of GSEP Two Rivers Service Unit.

Sarah-Marie has also earned her Bronze Award and her Silver Award. She has earned more than 40 badges and three journeys since reaching the level of Cadette. She is now an Ambassador.

For Sarah-Marie's Gold Award, she built an outdoor Animal Education and Enrichment Area at the Lehigh Valley Zoo. The project took approximately 96 hours.

Sarah-Marie is a junior at PA Leadership Charter School. She is also a member of the Northampton County 4-H, a red belt at Family Tree Karate, and sings in the choir at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Sarah-Marie's future plans are to go to college and become an animal caretaker at a zoo.
