Person of the Week: Steve Shiffert, Head Football Coach at Easton Area High School

Inducted into the Pennsylvania Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame this summer and Easton Area High School Wall of Fame last week

Name:Steve Shiffert

Age: 60

Where you live: Nazareth

Family: Wife Vickie,daughters Stacy and Joy, son Scott.

Profession: Head football coach and retired Easton Area School District teacher.

How long on the job: 19-years as football coach and 34-years as a teacher. Started teaching elementary school and ended as a crises counselor at the high school.

About your job: It's challenging. Every year it's a different group of kids that come through, and I try to find out what motivates them to do their best.

What do you like best about your job? Being around kids and young adults. It's challenging yet it's very rewarding to see them be successful.

Your thoughts about being inducted into the hall and wall of fame: It's quite an honor. I had the good fortune of working with a lot of good kids.
