Trout Season Starts Saturday in Palmer/Forks

You'll see something familiar in the Bushkill Creek Saturday: Fish and Fishermen.

State and local officials in Northampton County are ready for the start of trout season and the annual rush of anglers who are anxious to test the waters Saturday.

The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission has announced its plans to stock local waters with both brown and rainbow trout in Palmer Township.

However, prior to heading out, several state rules and regulations must be followed before you can bait that hook or rig that lure.

A regular state fishing license costs $22.70, but if you want to catch trout, the cost is an additional $9.70 for a trout stamp. Licenses can be purchased at Mike's Bait and Sport Shop or Walmart.

According to the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission, approved trout waters in Northampton County include Bushkill Creek, Hokendauqua Creek, Indian Creek, Jacoby Creek, Lehigh Canal (0.6 mile downstream of Carbon County line downstream to confluence with Bertsch Creek, and first lock upstream of Monocacy Creek crossing downstream to confluence with Nancy Run Crossing), Little Bushkill Creek, Martins Creek, Monocacy Creek and Saucon Creek.
