Bites Nearby: Three-Way Cafe

Lower Nazareth bistro celebrates one year in business.

Imagine a contemporary bistro, complete with trained chefs, combined with the speedy service and ease of a Subway or Quizno’s, and you have some idea of the Three-Way Café in Lower Nazareth.

Three-Way Café is owned and operated by executive chef Adam Aschoff and pastry chef Elizabeth Buss. They run their business by the slogan “everything fresh, everything homemade.”

The name, Three-Way Café, is derived from their signature menu. Seven different Three-Way signature items can be ordered in three forms: as a panini, a quesadilla, or as a salad. Five breakfast menu options are available on a Kaiser roll, a bagel or a wrap.

Signature menu items are bistro-inspired and include things like a caprese with tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, and a balsamic reduction; and a BBQ chicken, with chicken tenders, Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce, onions, tomato, ranch dressing and cheddar cheese.

The rest of the menu consists of salads, sandwiches, quesadillas, soups, pastries and more, nothing ringing in more than seven dollars.

True to their slogan, all of their dressings and soups are homemade. Bread comes in daily from a bakery in Newark, NJ. Their pastries are all made on-premise.

“We wanted to incorporate fresh-baked pastries with bistro-style sandwiches… [we] wanted to bring those things together,” said Aschoff.

Fresh pastries, made daily, include the likes of cupcakes, scones, bear claws, and signature cake balls: cake crumbs mixed in icing and dipped in chocolate, a best-seller at the café.

The cafés most popular items, according to Aschoff, are the turkey club, the spinach salad, and the chicken and cheese quesadilla. Their entire menu is available all day, and includes a kids’ menu.

Three-Way Café also carries Boylan’s Soda, a unique line of New Jersey soft drink made with real cane sugar.

Both Aschoff and Buss are New York trained chefs. They worked together at the Saucon Valley Country Club, where they conceived the idea of striking out on their own. Next week, they will be celebrating the one-year anniversary of the Three-Way Café.

The café is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Recently they changed their hours to accommodate dinner until 7 p.m., Wednesday through  Friday. They offer take-out or dine-in options, as well as home delivery within three miles.

Three-Way Café is located at 848 Nazareth Pike in Lower Nazareth, next to Dunkin Donuts. They are open Monday and Tuesday, 8am to 5:30pm; Wednesday through Friday, 8am to 7pm; and Saturday, 9am to 7pm. They are closed Sundays.

The café accepts all major credit cards. Find them on Facebook at Three-Way Café, or on the web at http://threewaycafe.wordpress.com/, where you can see their entire menu, as well as their separate catering menu for corporate or private events.
