Forks Officials Tour Township Businesses

Forks Township Manager John Cornell gets out and about to greet local business owners and offer the township's support.

Hey Forks Township business owners, you might be getting a visitor soon.

In an effort to build relations between township government and the business community, Township Manager John Cornell is taking it to the streets to offer a handshake and a helping hand.

Supervisor John O'Neil made a point to mention at Thursday night's worksession meeting that Cornell went out to visit business establishments.

"We went door-to door," he said. "We gave out business cards and said we're here to help. It was a great experience. We want to continue the process."

Joining Cornell was Alison Miers, vice president of Easton initiatives for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Business and Commerce Association of Forks Township.

BCAF held two roundtables last year with business members and township officials to try to bolster businesses and come up with ways to better promote the township's commercial and retail ventures.

Cornell said he and Miers hit the businesses in the Giant Food Center off Sullivan Trail. They included Something Different, which recently celebrated a decade as a business in Forks Township.

The two went across the way to some of the other shops and stores, which include Taco Express and Salvatore's pizza.
