Juicy Subs Opening at Park Plaza

Juicy Subs is expected to be the first eatery opening at the Park Plaza at Sullivan Trail in Forks Township.

It's carving a place in Forks Township history.

Juicy Subs will be the first eatery in the Park Plaza at Sullivan Trail when it opens, which was first expected to take place Friday, but owners said is now delayed until March 11.

"We feel very honored," co-owner Vlad Tayman said. "We're the sub shop and we're going to provide a lot of growth for the township."

Tayman and co-owner Eletise Maldonado, who are both Forks Township residents, were driving around one day last June when they wondered about all the construction going on at the former Laneco Department Store site.

"This looks like a mall," Tayman told Maldonado.

The two work for T-Mobile and Maldonado's family had operated a string of grocery stores, where Maldonado made sandwiches for people while he worked there.

That got the idea rolling.

"We wanted something healthy," Tayman said. "We didn't just want to be another sub shop. In this town, people want quality."

Thus was born the concept for Juicy Subs, a business that will offer some blended fresh natural juices, breakfast from an egg machine, bread from Egypt Star and meats that are steamed.

"The meat will be steamed so it will be warm and moist," Tayman said. "And our bread will always be warm too."

Maldonado said the two went to numerous sub and hoagie shops to examine what they served and the service they provided.

"By summer, this will be the place where people will want to be," Tayman said.

Juicy Subs will be open seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The business is expected to employ six people.

"We will be the best tasting and have the best quality and a philanthropic edge to us," Tayman said.

"We have a vision for serving the community," Maldonado added.
