Mall Hosting Events in Support of Red Cross

March is Red Cross Month, and a number of community activities are planned.

The following was provided to Patch:

During the month of March, Lehigh Valley Mall will partner with the American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley to host family-friendly events in support of Red Cross Month.

Kicking off the educational fun is Community Day on Saturday, March 1 from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Stop by the Mall Events Court with your family to learn about fire prevention and disaster preparedness. American Red Cross staff and volunteers will be on-hand to share information about the programs and services it offers throughout the Greater Lehigh Valley Community. Children can play an emergency preparedness game, complete other safety-related arts and crafts projects, and meet American Red Cross mascots Buddy the Blood Drop and Ernie the Emergency Response Vehicle. Adults can learn more about donating blood, how to build an emergency kit, fire safety practices and services the American Red Cross can provide to our active duty and veteran armed forces. Before you leave, enter for a chance to win one of the many retailer prizes or American Express® Gift Cards at the fundraising raffle.

On Saturday, March 29, Lehigh Valley Mall and the American Red Cross are inviting community members to make blood donations at the Mobile Blood Drive. Contributions will be accepted between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the American Red Cross Bloodmobile, located in the Lehigh Valley Mall parking lot near Barnes & Noble and Pottery Barn. To schedule an appointment or learn more about the donation process and eligibility requirements, please visit www.redcrossblood.org/donating-blood or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.

“As part of the Lehigh Valley community, it’s our responsibility to do what we can to raise awareness and encourage civic engagement,“ said Mall Marketing Director, Amanda Johnson. “The need for blood donations is constant with every donation having the power to help change someone’s life.”

Mall-goers can also make a difference during the month of March by stopping by Lehigh Valley Mall’s Guest Services, located on the lower level near Boscov’s, to make a donation for Northeast Pa. military veterans in need. The mall will be accepting new, in their package socks and restaurant gift cards to help reunite, reconnect and rebuild military families after deployment. Shoppers who purchase their gift card donations at Guest Services will receive a special gift.
