Sheetz Could Open Before Thanksgiving

Construction of a Sheetz gas station/convenience store is under way in Palmer Township.

The construction has begun.

The new Sheetz gas station/convenience store—the second phase in the Northwood Center development—is starting to take shape.

Crews have cleared and leveled land around the parcel by Route 248 and Kingston Road as Palmer Township officials have signed off on an agreement for a new traffic signal there.

Supervisors also agreed to go out to bid for the traffic signal installation.

Strausser Enterprises is developing the Northwood Center, which includes a CVS that opened right after the new year. Strausser officials have said the new Sheetz would be the largest Sheetz convenience store in the Lehigh Valley.

"It could be open before Thanksgiving," Colver said.

The Sheetz project has stalled for several months as Strausser sought permit approval from the state Department of Transportation.
