Debbie DeRogatis is always trying something different.
That's what the owner of Something Different, a unique boutique in the Giant Shopping Center in Forks Township, has to do to survive and thrive.
And with difficult economic times, when a lot of similar businesses have shut their doors, the Forks Township resident is enjoying an anniversary. Her business marks 10 years next weekend.
"I had to reinvent myself," DeRogatis said. "A lot of these unique stores were closing. Decor wasn't selling as good. So I expanded into women's accessories."
Something Different offers a large selection of Chamilia jewelry, shoes, SwitchFlops (where you can replace the strip of fabric), handbags, scarves, holiday items, candles and all kinds of other gifts and goodies.
"I've been doing well the last three years," she said. "I'm very fortunate that I'm able to stay in business."
To celebrate her anniversary, DeRogatis is holding a 10th anniversary celebration next Friday through Sunday.
You can enter to win a 14K gold Chamilia bracelet. Most items in the store will be on sale, too. There's also a deal that if you buy five beads, you get a free bracelet or if you buy four beads, you get a free one.
The first 10 customers who make a purchase on any of the three days will receive a free gift.
Something Different is open from 11-5 Sunday, Monday and Tuesday; 11-7 Wednesday; 10-8 Thursday and Friday and 10:30-6:30 Saturday. The store is located at 351 Town Center Blvd, Forks Giant Center. 610-515-8006.
