Sullivan Trail’s Park Plaza Moves Ahead

The old Laneco eyesore is about to undergo big changes.

Transformation of the old Laneco on Sullivan Trail into the new Park Plaza is progressing, according to Richard Bartolacci, president of R. B. Associates. The Bethlehem firm is the new owner and developer of the property.

“We have letters of intent, drawings and layouts,” said Bartolacci. “And we are reviewing multiple leases right now with four or five clients.”

Prospective tenants include a health facility, exercise club and others. A dozen or more businesses can be accommodated here, and existing zoning allows many different uses. An exact schedule is not yet possible, but Bartolacci expects Park Plaza to be "up and running in March" 2012.

Dollar Tree store, which has occupied a space in the plaza since 2009, will remain, according to Bartolacci. The other stores in the center are not affected, he said.

The 109,200-square-foot former Laneco building has been mostly vacant since Giant moved to its present Town Center location. Giant bought the Laneco property and occupied it for several years. Giant placed restrictions on the sale that limit the types of businesses that can occupy the building.

In working to get Park Plaza up and running, Bartolacci gives Forks Township officials high marks.

“The township has been fantastic and helpful with everything,” he said.

The building has existing approval from the township, but any construction would require building permits.
