Forks Supervisors, "Can You Hear Me Now?"

Verizon's famous ad question will remain unanswered, as they don't plan to show up tonight to make their Tower-in-Park pitch.

At the April 19th meeting of the Forks Supervisors, Township Administration through their spokesperson, Zoning Officer Weis, asked the Board to consider allowing Verizon to submit a proposal to construct a cell tower in the Community Park.

Mr. Weis recommended that the tower location could be accommodated on a strip of land across from the Forks Athletic Association’s newly constructed batting cage.  The Supervisors voted 3-2 to grant Verizon permission to submit a proposal for construction of a tower on Township property.

It is important to note that Supervisor Egolf had the forethought define a “yes vote” to mean approval to submit a proposal for a tower location on public land in general and not just the Community Park. In short, he did not want a “yes vote” to be treated as an approval of a specific location, for example the Community Park.

Evidently, Verizon is not prepared to submit a proposal under these terms just yet.  Community First, at the time of this writing, has been informed that the official Board Agenda has no Verizon matter up for discussion.

For the Friends of the Park and the many other residents who have expressed their tower concerns to Community First and the Patch, your voices will be needed at a later date to be determined after Verizon submits their tower plans. Tonight, Community First will attend the Supervisors meeting at 7:30 PM and it’s Pre-Meeting at 6:30PM.
