EAHS Student's Sudden Death Stuns Community

Lewis Ogioba, 15, was a basketball player on the JV squad

Area residents and students are mourning the death of a 15-year-old Easton Area High School basketball player.

Lewis Ogioba reportedly collapsed on Wednesday while playing on an area basketball court, according to an email sent to Palmer-Forks Patch. He would have been a sophomore at the high school this fall and played on the junior varsity basketball team. A cause of death has yet to be determined, but according to WMFZ Ogioba suffered from asthma.

An outpouring of wishes to the family has come in since a Facebook page for Ogioba was started earlier this week.

According to the school district website, counselors will be on hand today at the high school from 10am to 2pm to help students cope with the loss.

Services for Ogioba will be held Saturday, Aug. 6 from 9:30am to 11:30am at Forks United Church of Christ, 4500 Sullivan Trail, Stockertown, according to the district website.
