This is the month when fall gets into full swing as people begin buying mums, pumpkins, take in hay rides and prepare for Halloween.

Our weekly feature every Monday takes a look at what's ahead of us for this week. Now that the weekend is in our rear-view mirror, we can get ready for news and information that might make your week a little lighter and brighter.

1. The Palmer Township Board of Supervisors holds its first meeting for October. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the conference room of the library.

2. The Forks Township Board of Supervisors holds its regular work session meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday. Visit the Forks Township website Thursday afternoon to see the agenda.

3. The Forks Township Kiwanis Club meets Thursday at Merchants Bank off Sullivan Trail. The meetings, which take place the first and third Thursday of each month, begin at 7:30 a.m.

4. The Lehigh Valley Tea Party holds its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Friday at the Charles Chrin Community Center in Palmer Township.

5. Neighboring Easton will bring tastebuds to life with its annual Garlic Festival Oct. 6 and 7.
