Meetings and applicants sought

Here are five things to know this week in Palmer and Forks townships:

  1. Palmer Township Shade Tree Commission will meet at 6:30 tonight. The meeting will be in the meeting room of the Palmer Memorial Library, 1 Weller Place. 
  2. Palmer Township Board of Supervisors will meet at 7pm Tuesday. The meeting will be in the meeting room of the Palmer Memorial Library.
  3. Forks Township Planning Commission will meet at 7pm Tuesday. The meeting will be at the municipal building, 1606 Sullivan Trail.
  4. The Easton Area School Board is looking to fill the recently vacated Region III seat. Applications will be sought until Aug. 8.
  5. On this day in history, the first "test tube" baby was born in 1978. Louise Joy Brown was born in Manchester, England, weighing 5 pounds, 12 ounces, the first baby ever to be born by in vitro fertilization.
