Five Things to Know This Week, July 15-20

A movie night, police youth academy and some cool concerts highlight the upcoming week.

We're really getting into summer this week.

It's an important one for the Philadelphia Phillies, who are trying to turn their season around. And the Philadelphia Eagles are set to open camp at Lehigh University sometime in the next week or so.

So here is the latest addition of this week.

Our weekly feature every Monday takes a look at what's ahead of us for the week. Now that the weekend is in our rear-view mirror, we can get ready for news and information that might make your week a little lighter and brighter.

1. The holds its weeklong Summer Youth Academy, starting Monday. All the spots for this year's camp are filled. The camp runs throughout the week.

2. Some cool concerts at the new Sands Event Center in Bethlehem this week. The B'52s, along with Squeeze, should put on quite a party Tuesday night. Meanwhile, longtime progressive rockers Yes perform Wednesday. Tickets are still available for both shows. (I might go to one.)

3. The first new business in the new Park Plaza at Sullivan Trail had an open house Sunday but will be open all week. is a children's destination that should provide hours of entertainment.

4. The will hold its first meeting of the month. It's slated for Thursday with a work session beginning at 6:30 p.m. followed by the regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. See the township's website for the agenda.

5. Besides spending the day swimming, the will hold its second of the summer Friday. The movie begins at dusk.
