Five Things to Look For Today

BIP mixer at 5:30. Sketch Night and Oprah hangs it up.

Here’s a few things to know about today, May 25, 2011.

1. The Business, Industrial and Professional Association of Palmer Township will host a scholarship and dedication mixer at 5:30pm today.

The mixer will be held at the Charles Chrin Community Center of Palmer Township, 4100 Green Pond Road.

The pavilion at the community center has been dedicated with funds from the BIP and graduating seniors who will be attending college will be awarded.

2. Forks Township Arts Association will host Sketch Night tonight at 7pm in the Forks Community Center, Zucksville Road.

The event is open to all skill levels and is a great opportunity to learn and improve artistic skills.

Pencils, charcoal, canvas and drawing materials to paint on is needed.

3. Steve Urkels everywhere unite! Today is the Geek Pride Day. So pull out your pocket protectors and hike up your pants in celebration.

4. Today is the last day of work for Palmer Township manager Bob Anckaitis. He served 11 years as manager and will retire. Taking over as township manager is Chris Christman.

5. The Oprah Winfrey show will air the last show after 25 years. The talk show pioneer will take a long overdue vacation before focusing her full efforts on her new network, OWN (The Oprah Winfrey Network).
