Freeze Warning on for Tuesday; Protect Your Plants

Subfreezing temperatures are highly likely Tuesday morning; these conditions could kill crops and plants already in bloom, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning in the Lehigh Valley for Tuesday from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Some areas could see a 30-degree drop in temperatures overnight, according to NWS. And due to an unusually warm winter and early spring, trees and flowers have already bloomed, and if the freeze occurs, plants could die.

Here are some tips to protect plants from a freeze:

  • Bring potted plants indoors.
  • Water thoroughly to prevent dessication.
  • Place mulch around inground plants, or use stray ot newspapers.
  • Cover tender plants with burlap or cardboard overnight.
