Route 33 Roadwork Begins Today

Work will cross through several municipalities, including Palmer.

Work will begin today to improve PA 33 in Palmer Township and Stockertown and in the townships of Bethlehem, Lower Nazareth, Bushkill and Plainfield, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The project calls for roadway resurfacing, bridge maintenance and new
pavement markings on PA 33 north and south between the Belfast exit and just south of US 22.

PennDOT says motorists should be alert for weeknight (Mondays
through Thursdays) lane restrictions on PA 33 north between 7pm and 6am. Motorists should use caution and allow for extra time traveling through the area. Updates will be provided when traffic patterns change, according to PennDOT.

J.D. Eckman Inc. of Atglen (Chester County) is the general contractor on the $2,437,967 project to improve the highway. All work is expected to be complete in September, according to PennDOT.
