Eagles: Forget Vick. Pick Nick.

Philadelphia Eagles rookie quarterback Nick Foles looks like the real deal. Maybe he should be the team's starter.

Editor's Note -- This column was written before the Philadelphia Eagles played the Cleveland Browns Friday night.

Forget Michael Vick. We've now got Nick.

Sometimes discoveries are made in preseason that amount to ones like finding Noah's Ark or finding out that the world is not flat.

The have made a find of historic proportions: Rookie quarterback Nick Foles is the real deal.

As tries to stay in a football game more than two series, Foles has shined like someone who could be the next Dan Marino or Joe Montana.

When all "Monday Night Football" analyst Jon Gruden -- who knows his stuff -- does is blush about Foles the entire game, you know there's something special about this big lug from Arizona.

After all, Gruden got to watch Brett Favre grow up in Green Bay.

It's one thing when a rookie impresses in the first preseason game, as Foles did. But the poise he showed coming off the bench to fill in for an injured Vick Monday night was something we're used to seeing from Peyton Manning or Steve Young or Roger Staubach.

Foles looks that good.

This time, Foles played with the starters and ran the first-team offense like he'd been doing this for years. (The man is no Kevin Kolb. And who cares how well Mike Kafka might know the playbook.)

Forget Foles as a No. 2.

Coach should name Foles the starter for the season immediately.

After all, other teams like Cleveland, Indianapolis, Washington and Miami are going with rookie QBs.

Why go through games with Vick starting and then coming out for an injury. It will stall the offense and kill any momentum.

Vick has played a full season once in his career. He's already banged a thumb on a helmet and got crushed in the ribs against the New England Patriots Monday night.

He's played in two games. And his leading stat? Two X-rays.

Maybe the Michael Vick Experiment is really over. Chances are, you won't see him again this preseason. So having Vick shake off the rust against the Brownies won't be good for any Birds fans.

Give Nick Foles the job. He could be the answer.

He also could be the missing ingredient for a championship.

Yes, this talk may sound crazy. Two preseason games do not make a career. But watch Foles play and tell me otherwise. This guy has talent; he's something special.

And, so far, Foles has shown he is something special.

So go buy a Nick Foles jersey. It might be the best investment you ever make.

Written like a rookie reporter..... PRESEASON fella... One brick does not make a building. One building does not make a town. Let the guy learn and put hi into the mess after he has been trained in a few more NFL type palauys and can read an NFL defense. Yeah , there are teams throwing in the their Rooie QBs. HELLO! It's because they have no one else. And none of them will finish in the top 25 QBs in the end of the season except maybe Luck if can will his first 6 games before his schedule gets tough.

Foles rules. Vick is a dog.

Foles looked real good at preseason vs steelers.Vick better get it together

Wait until Vick is hurt and see Foles in regular season action before you crown him the next starter. I'm not saying it's not possible, but don't count your chickens before they're hatched.

Whatever happened to A.J. Foley? Exactly.

Preseason does not, in may ways reflect, the actual season. This young man has not faced any of the really furious blitzes and serious tackling that will occurs in the actual season. Kafka is a good backup when he is allowed to play. It is unfortunate he has his hand broken in the first preseason; Reid has always done a very poor job of letting his backup QBs play in actually games before they are to start.

Trying not to jump on the bandwagon after preseason games... But what is clear on the flip side is Michael Vick has a body of work of 9 seasons in the NFL. He has a 55% completion rating and an 80% QB rating to show for it.... and major issues staying on the field. He's a supernaturally gifted athlete, BUT he'll be 33 this year and I think we'll see the inevitable slide start. Should we fall out of contention it's time to part ways with this failed experiment.

I like what what I see in Foles. He's big, throws well, can take a hit and get up. Let's see what happens with Vick in the next game if he starts. Maybe this will light a fire under him to play better, knowing Foles is on his tail. Get it, tail, referring to Coach Clark's comment dog.

Wait a Minuet! You have to see this guy in Regular season Play. Who knows if he can take a hit like Vick and come out smelling like a Rose .There are a lot of factors here so don't jump the Gun Yet Foles has to pay some DUES!!!

I agree the guy looks great so far. But, I'm not quite ready to jump off the Vick bandwagon yet. Chances are, Foles will get a shot during the regular season and then we'll see what we really have with him. You don't put your 100 million dollar QB on the bench.

Lets not put Nick Foles in the Hall of Fame just yet. Remember it was just pre season and he is a young rookie just learning the NFL way. We can all just hope that Nick is the real deal and can develope into the future Eagles franchise QB .
