Hawk family in Forks

We live on Apple Blossom Rd by Ridge and Tobaggan. I feed the birds in the winter and my bird houses out front and back are filled in the spring. We witnessed a small hawk (probably baby) swoop down on a bird and hold it down to the ground. My husband startled it walking by and it got away. Then we saw the mother for father hawk circling above for about an hour. Did not see again that day. But I have noticed my birds that normally come around are getting scarce. So I assume the are being taken by the hawks? That's nature I guess. But I wanted to warn people with small dogs or cats, one of these hawks is huge. Be careful and make sure they are on a leash or something so it can't be picked off. I don't know where the nest is. I see them sitting sometimes in the big fir tree on the corners of Ridge and Apple Blossom and behind us in the tree behind Old Mill. Beautiful birds. Just saying, watch your tiny dogs, I see a lot being walked around here. Don't know much about Hawks but I went to Hawk Mt once and saw them in action feeding and in a fight. Amazing creatures. Inform me about them if you know anything. Do they attack small birds for food, dogs or squirrels?

Thanks, be careful, watch your dogs, Pat Finney
