Poll: Is a Regional Skate Park Needed?

Easton says it could cost up to $250,000 to build skate park. Palmer says its share is too high. What do you think?

Easton is waiting on three of its neighbors -- the borough of Wilson and Forks and Palmer townships -- to decide what it wants to do about the construction of a .

Of the three, Forks might be the most important, Easton Councilwoman Elinor Warner told the Morning Call Friday.

Forks is looking at , Palmer-Forks Patch editor Dino Ciliberti wrote last month.

Palmer Patch also reported that Palmer Township officials recently said the township's share would be too high to contribute to a regional park.

Meanwhile, Forks Township did not address the issue at its Board of Supervisors meeting Thursday.

It would cost between $150,000 and $250,000 to build the park. Under the most expensive scenario, Easton would pay $95,000.

Do you think this is something Easton should still pursue? Do you think a regional park is needed. Let us know in the comments, and take our poll below.

But instead of building a skate park, what about using one of our vacant buildings, like the old Shop Rite building on William Penn Highway and make an indoor skate park, so kids can use it all year round. Our kids would love to have something like that. Have them sign a waiver or something to protect the investor from being sued, if that must be, because of all the people that are sue happy and ruin it for normal people that know the risks. I would rather see some of these vacant buildings used, instead of building new buildings that aren't filled and left vacant to rot away.

Utilizing our vacant buildings is a great idea and it does provide a recreational resource for our students year round. good idea.
