Body Found in Canal was Plainfield Man

The body found in the Delaware Canal Friday has been identified as Andrew P. Wismer, 25, of Plainfield Township.

 

The body of a 25-year-old man found in the Friday has been identified as Andrew P. Wismer of Plainfield Township, according to the Northampton County Coroner.

The body was found near the intersection of Route 611 and Nesquehoning Street by hikers around 2:30 p.m. Friday. Wismer lived in the Highlands Development off 611, his sister, Melissa Wismer, told The Express-Times.

Melissa told the newspaper that authorities are leaning toward “foul play” in her brother’s death, but police would not comment. Wismer graduated from Easton High School in 2005, and his sister said he recently lost his job and started working at their father’s roofing business.

This is the second body in less than a week. On May 20, a man was found in the Lehigh River behind Larry Holmes Drive, and later was identified as , 34, of the South Side.
