Dixie Worker Hurt in Industrial Accident

A 25-year-old suffered an injury when his hand got stuck in a machine at the in Forks Township Friday night at about 8:50 p.m.

Initial emergency reports indicated a man got caught in a machine, and just nine minutes later, a second alert stated the man was free from the machine with a hand injury. No one else was hurt.

The worker had a hand caught in the production line machine, The Morning Call reports, and co-workers freed him before paramedics arrived.

took him to the hospital with a bleeding hand that Forks Township police Cpl. Jack Dressler characterized for the newspaper as "not life-threatening and as not so serious as he initially imagined."

On May 8, the Occupational Health & Safety Administration had an unscheduled inspection of the plant based on a safety complaint, according to OSHA records. The inspection had an emphasis on "amputation," but the case is still open and no further details were available.
