Donations Sought to Rebuild Area Fire Station

Se-Wy-Co Fire Company establishes a fund to help rebuild the Leithsville Fire Company, destroyed in accident that sparked a massive fire. One person was killed.

in Lower Saucon Township has established a webpage that provides information about how to donate toward the rebuilding of the Leithsville fire station.

Palmer Township firefighters helped cover Hellertown after the devasting fire that killed an Upper Bucks man.

Supporters are being directed to send donations to Se-Wy-Co Fire Company, 3621 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bethlehem, PA 18015, and to write "Leithsville Building Fund" on their checks.

said in an email that the company is also "working on an online option" for donors.

Springtown resident was killed in the accident and the driver of the dump truck, Michael Thomas, 42, suffered serious burns.

In addition to the station, three fire company vehicles were lost in the blaze.

On their website, the Se-Wy-Co and Leithsville volunteers are thanking local residents and friends from across the state "for showing such great support during our time of need."

"We especially want to thank our brotherhood of fellow firefighters for their overwhelming response," the statement says.

The two companies are in the process of completing a state-approved merger, and .

In a press release issued Wednesday, company leadership said "there will be no impact on services provided by the Se-Wy-Co/Leithsville Fire Company to the residents and businesses of Lower Saucon Township."

The company has "added additional apparatus to be dispatched on calls from neighboring departments to supplement the loss of our fire apparatus," according to the release.

According to the Se-Wy-Co website, several fundraisers for the Leithsville Building Fund are already planned.

The first will be an all-you-can-eat breakfast in the Leithsville Social Hall, 1995 Leithsville Road, Hellertown, on Sunday, June 10 from 8 a.m. to noon.

The social hall, which is adjacent to the station, was not damaged in last week's fire.
