DUI checkpoints planned throughout Labor Day weekend

Lehigh Valley Police Departments to Participate in Labor Day DUI Enforcement

AThe Lehigh Valley DUI/Highway Safety Taskforce today announced that Lehigh Valley Police Departments will conduct roving patrols and DUI checkpoints as part of the state's participation in a national DUI enforcement crackdown from Saturday through Sept. 2.

The Lehigh Valley DUI/Highway Task Force consists of police departments from throughout the Lehigh and Northampton counties as well as members of the business community, non-profits, and health care representatives.

PennDOT data for Lehigh and Northampton counties shows that in 2012, there were 735 alcohol-related crashes and 159 drug-related crashes.
