Easton Robber Says "Devil Messes With" Him

Samad McKoy gets state prison sentence for holding up Easton delivery drivers, says drugs and the devil led him to crime.

An Easton man convicted of told a court psychologist that sometimes the "devil messes with" him.

But that wasn't enough to stop a judge from ordering McKoy, 28, to spend three to seven years in prison.

The Morning Call reports that Samad McKoy gave that explanation before his sentencing Friday in .

"If the devil's going to mess with you, he's going to mess with you inside the walls of a state correctional facility," Judge Edward Smith told McKoy.

McKoy admitted in May to robbing two deliverymen in the city: a Chinese restaurant employee on Ferry Street in November 2011, and a man delivering pizza on Walnut Street in late January.

According to court records, McKoy stole a total of $99 -- $35 from the Chinese delivery driver and $64 from the pizza man.

In both incidents, police say McKoy indicated he had a gun. 

Police say McKoy told the pizza delivery driver "if you don't want to get hurt, just give me the money." He pointed to a pocket, court records say, "which caused [the driver] to believe there was a weapon present."
