Man Killed in Forks Township Crash

Third traffic fatality reported in Forks Township in past four months.

A man was killed Friday in a crash around Route 611 in which a car collided with a dump truck.

Authorities have not identified the victim, who was involved in the 6:30 a.m. crash along Danser Hill Road in the area of Route 611. Another person also suffered a serious injury.

Northampton County Coroner Zach Lysek said the next-of-kin was being contacted, the Easton Express-Times reported.

PennDOT closed Route 611 between Frutchey Hill Road and Frost Hollow Road for three hours before it reopened at 10:15 a.m.

Forks Fire Chief Charles Chapman said he did not have any additional information and Police Chief Greg Dorney could not be reached for comment.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the truck driver was taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries, police Capt. Richard Grifo said. The drivers were the only people in the vehicles, the Express-Times reported.

Forks Township experienced a traffic fatality last November when a man drove his car into a tree, killing himself and his daughter.

Forks Township authorities have been busy of late, handling two fires in the past month.
