Fire Burns Palmer Township Home

Attic fire damages home on Old Nazareth Road in Palmer Township Wednesday afternoon.

A home on Old Nazareth Road in Palmer Township suffered smoke damage Wednesday afternoon after a fire burned through the attic.

Police had blocked a section of the road a few houses up from the blaze at 3029 Old Nazareth Road.

The fire call came in at 2:24 p.m. with a report of heavy fire in a two-story private dwelling.

The fire caused significant damage to the roof -- specifically the attic where firefighters used Ladder No. 2721 to cut through some of the damage.

No one was injured. Fire officials said the cause is under investigation.

Around 3 p.m., firefighters were wrapping up hoses as traffic was diverted away from the road. A firefighter was seen carrying a cat out of the house. The cat escaped from the firefighter and ran away.

A neighbor was also walking around the roof of her home as fire personnel worked the fire scene next door.

Assisting were units from Bethlehem and Lower Nazareth townships.
