Five Guys Fundraiser for Fallen Officer

Proceeds from Sept. 27 event to help family of Robert Lasso.

A fundraiser will be held next Tuesday for fallen Freemansburg police officer .

Three Five Guys Burgers and Fries locations in the Lehigh Valley will hold a fundraiser with proceeds going to Lasso's family if a customer hands in a special flier.

Each customer must bring in a special Five Guys flier -- which can be printed from The Palmer/Forks Patch -- for the proceeds to be donated.

The fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will benefit the Officer Lasso Fund.

The fund has been set up to help support the Lasso family -- now and in the future.

Lasso is survived by his wife and two small children, as well as his parents and many other family members and friends.

Lasso was shot and killed responding to a call about a disturbance in Freemansburg last month at 440 New St., the home of George Hitcho, who is charged in the crime.

Lasso was reportedly being attacked by two dogs in Hitcho’s yard and pointed a stun gun at them before he was killed.  Friends and family have been selling T-shirts and decals at community events in Palmer Township and at the recent Forks Township Community Days.

The shirts, which cost between $20 and $22, feature Lasso's name spread over a wing with "Forever in our Hearts" listed below.

The following Five Guys Burgers and Fries locations in the Lehigh Valley are participating:

-- 3770 Dryland Way, Easton (Lower Nazareth Township), Located in the Lower Nazareth Commons Plaza.

-- 4025 Tilghman St. Allentown, Located in the Tilghman Street Center.

-- 914 Airport Center Drive, Allentown (Hanover Township), Located next to Target.

Thanks Jim. I was told we had the flier, then when I went to get it, it wasn't there. May repost. Appreciate your help -- Dino Ciliberti filling in for Takesha
