Forks Hires New Police Officer

John Tosado of Bethlehem Township has joined the Forks Township Police Department.

You may have seen him on the streets.

John Tosado is one of the newest additions to the Forks Township Police Department.

Tosado, of Bethlehem Township, was hired on Sept. 20 to replace Detective James Rowden, who left the force last March.

Police Chief Greg Dorney said since Tosado's arrival, the police department is operating at staff levels of 20 full-time officers with one on administrative leave. 

The department also has dealt with the resignation of Officer Mills and the retirement in February of Officer Steve Nicholson, which has left two vacancies.

Tosado formerly worked for the Lehigh University Police Department and also the Lafayette College Department of Public Safety in Easton.

He is a graduate of the Allentown Police Academy and has attained several community policing and crime prevention instructor certifications.

Tosado has been assigned to the evening shift rotation.
