A Forks Township man is accused of choking his wife to the point of unconsciousness during an argument at their Winchester Drive home Sunday night, according to court papers.
Ernesto Chevez, 41, of 290 Winchester Drive, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person in the altercation.
According to court papers:
Chevez was engaged in an argument with his wife, Sulmy, when he grabbed her from behind, putting an arm around her neck, and dragged her to the front porch of the home.
Chevez then allegedly put his hands around his wife’s throat and choked her before shoving her onto the lawn. Sulmy Chevez told police that she lost consciousness during the choking.
Two eyewitnesses – one Sulmy Chevez’s mother and one her brother – corroborated the story with Forks Township police.
Chevez was arraigned before on-duty District Judge David Tidd of Lower Saucon Township and committed to Northampton County Prison after failing to post $30,000 bail.
