Forks Police Handle 647 Calls for May

Forks Township Police Chief reports that calls are up 2.5 percent from April.


Forks Township Police Chief Greg Dorney has reported that his police department handled 647 calls for May, up 2.5 percent from 631 calls for April.

CRIMINAL ACTIVITY

  • One rape.
  • Four thefts, including three cases of $200 or more being stolen from a building and a retail theft of under $50.
  • 18 disturbances, including 12 that were domestic, one involving a juvenile and five for fights and disputes.
  • Three incidents of harassment.
  • Two non-aggravated assaults and 28 reports of suspicious persons or vehicles.
  • Four cases of property damage.
  • Eight cases of criminal mischief.
  • Three missing persons reports.
  • Three protective orders.
  • There were also cases involving one for harassment by communication, one runaway involving a female, one sanitation ordinance violation, one lost animal, one for soliciting, one for a hazardous condition and one case of driving under the influence.

  • 100 traffic citations and five non-traffic citations.
  • 40 traffic and parking problems.
  • 7 motor vehicle accidents.
  • 7 cases of careless driving.
  • 18 traffic violations.
  • 10 traffic-related incidents.

   CALLS/SERVICES

  • Seven real or false alarms for fires.
  • 64 911 calls.
  • 66 for unfounded alarms. 
  • Six for disabled vehicles.
  • 26 building checks.
  • 12 police information notifications.
  • 43 responses for officer assistance.
  • 52 public service reports.
  • 57 medical assistance calls.
  • Three police escorts.
  • Three checks on reports.
  • Five for fingerprinting.
  • One warrant was also served.

  OTHER INCIDENTS

  • 16 animal complaints and eight dog law offenses or bites.
  • Six cases of recovered property.
  • Five cases of people being locked out of their vehicles or buildings.
  • Two cases of wires or poles being down, streetlights out.

The police department assisted the Forks Township Fire Department once during May and helped other police departments five times during the month.
