Forks Recognizes New Firefighters

The ranks of the Forks Township Fire Department are swelling.

Forks Township Fire Chief Chuck Chapman recognized four firefighters who graduated from training at the recent Board of Supervisors meeting.

Firefighter Andrew Trumbour and Junior Firefighters James Bernasconi, Henry Cochran and Spencer Imhoff recently graduated from the Bucks County Fire Academy.

In earning national certification, the four firefighters spent 112 hours in training.

That included basic firefighting skills on: building construction, ladders, search and rescue, fire behavior, personal safety equipment, vehicle fires, fire extinguisher use, ropes and knots, ventilation, fire hose and streams, safety, water supply, forcible entry, SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) and wildland fire.

The firefighters also received four hours in Hazmat awareness training and two hours of testing and eight hours of CPR.

In total, Chapman said the firefighters tallied 190 training hours.

"It's a great program," the chief said. "I want to thank them for their time and dedication."

Chapman said the junior firefighters are not fully qualified firefighters until they turn 18.

"I want to thank you for the service you provide on a volunteer basis," Supervisor John O'Neil said.
