Forks Township Crime Incidents Stabilize

After a November in which crime incidents in Forks Township spiked, they stabilized for December to close the year.

After a month in which criminal incidents near doubled in November, figures for December stabilized.

Forks Township Police Chief Greg Dorney reported 529 criminal incidents in December, a drastic drop from 1,141 criminal incidents in November. There were 676 criminal incidents for October.

CRIMINAL ACTIVITY

  • Two forced-entry burglaries during the day.
  • One unlawful entry during the day.
  • Five thefts, including one each for theft over $200 from a vehicle, one theft under $50, a theft between $50 and $200, one over $200 and one between $50 and $200 for pocket picking.
  • Seven cases of criminal mischief.
  • Four for driving under the influence of alcohol and one for marijuana.
  • 9 domestic disturbances and 6 fights or disputes.
  • 25 reports of suspicious persons or vehicles.
  • Three incidents of harassment.
  • Four protective orders.
  • Two for property damage.
  • Two cases of found/recovered property.
  • There was also one abandoned vehicle, one mental health incident, one male runaway, one for littering, one lost/missing property, and one public drunkenness.

  • 71 traffic citations.
  • 22 traffic and parking problems.
  • 13 motor vehicle accidents.
  • 9 traffic violations.
  • 2 traffic-related incidents.
  • Two escorts.
  • Three for careless driving.
  • One non-traffic citation.

   CALLS/SERVICES

  • One unattended death.
  • One stray animal.
  • 9 real or false alarms for fires.
  • 65 911 calls.
  • 58 for unfounded alarms.
  • 9 police information notifications.
  • 34 responses for officer assistance.
  • 36 public service reports.
  • 72 medical assistance calls.
  • 5 for disabled vehicles.
  • 3 for vehicle/building lockouts.
  • One for wires/poles down.
  • Three for overtime and one for administrative duties.
  • One for fingerprinting.
  • One warrant from an outside agency.

  OTHER INCIDENTS

  • 8 animal complaints and 14 dog law offenses or bites.
  • One game law violation.

The police department assisted other police departments and agencies six times during the month.
